Supido Multi Sports Radar
« on: February 04, 2013, 01:36:29 PM »

Just thought I would put a little review/experience here :)

I purchased these off Arvind when they were up for sale and got to use it on Saturday. Tried using it at the bowlers end to get the speed out of hand but we could not get it to work right. Anyways decided to place it at the batsman's end and from there on it worked well for us (we put it down the leg side in line with the stumps but think of leg slip for position so as batsman swinging the bat would not interefere). I think the rough estimate is ball is travelling about 20 KPH slower when it reaches the batsman (loses about .97 KPH / meter) so it was reassuring to see most bowlers around 77-100 KPH mark. It was also interesting to see that it was consistent in registering bowler speeds. Overall works well and we now have to figure out how use it on bowling end :)....

We only have 3 steps to run in from for nets so I am also happy knowing that I clocked around 95-100 consistently (if conversion is correct than 115 to 120 out of hand) then add the run-up and rhytm for outdoors and add another 2-3 KPH...

Also wanted to Thank Arvind for great service, it was nice to chat with him and he knows his stuff :)...Arvind if you know how to make it go on the bowling end let me know we have out next net in a months time so will try it out.

No very big Uzair, say the size of a normal telephone (not mobile/cell phone) fairly light. We just put in on the floor and its worked...can be attached to a tripod as well. We had it behing a ball hockey net on the leg side and worked just fine...I was praying no one hits it :)...i can send it to you if you wanna try it..

Interesting, that would be great. But I don't want you to be deprived of it. When your club has a brief hiatus from cricket, send it then perhaps?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

Just wondered if you had used this more & whether it was any good?

Cheers

Yeah mate used it a few more times, never really tried to measure speed out of hand with it. Always at the batsman's end, works pretty well.

Hi Tushar going to get one of these next week just wondered if your still using it and how you set it up at the bowlers end or if you had anymore luck out of the bowlers hand. Did you come to anymore conclusive numbers in speed drop off as it passed the stumps. Think i will see if i can calibrate it of a bowling machine at the indoor nets i use.

Cheers

Have you tested it with a bowling machine (Bola)?

Hey Ian,

honestly I can't remember if we ended up using this at the bowlers end at all. I just recently found it again after if had been buried under a lot of stuff during my move late in 2013...will try to put it back up on a tri-pod sometime this summer...would love to hear about your setup and experience.

@rajesh500 I am not sure where in the US you could buy this, if my memory is correct I got this from Arvind (Aswani sports) and I am sure he can provide you with the same. Think it was well priced too..
