Potential Future Stars
« on: February 06, 2013, 01:13:07 PM »

So, who around your area/league could possibly be the next test batsman for England?

From around us I recon this is one to keep an eye on.

He's now I think just about 17 and look at the stats. Hes come in the top 5 or so in the country for amount of runs in the last couple of years and when i've played against him once, looks absolute class.

He's on Yorkshire's books as far as I am aware

Who is there around you?

Dom Sibley.

Plays for Ashtead, has scored 2 double tons before his 17th birthday (one in the Surrey premiership!!). Already signed a surrey contract. Is currently playing for the Eng U19s (and scored a ton in the current game...)

Hard to judge but I suspect he needs more runs I remember glen chapple scoring big runs as a junior and he bats no higher than 7 at Lancs I think you need some smashing stats to make it as a batsman look at the lads highest scores mainly 2nd and 3rd eleven club cricket and playing in division 3 of a league is hardly going to help him but you never know and it hard to tell without watching players.

I remember growing up struggling to get in my county junior sides and to make it you have to be the best of the best of you age and the next few ages as well in theory to even stand a chance

There a young Irishman just take on a Warwickshire by the name of mark Adair he is rapid and can bat too scored a double hundred in a 20 over school game and plays for Ireland at age group level he is a classy player and could make it big

Ed Barnard - Shrewsbury 17yr old just signed a 2 year deal with Worcs and also just hit a ton in the U19 England v SA U19 test match...playing alongside Simmy's mate, and against a former team mate of mine called Hayes van der Berg (didn't play in the Test tho)

Ashley Hayden, 17 year old, plays few years above his age, regularly score 50's and tons, dont have his stats, last season wasnt great for him, his worst in a long time. Hopefully he can pull it back this season :)

I think he's been playing Birmingham league since he was really young with Shrewsbury 1st's, I don't know him personally but seen him play, looks tops

I'm going to throw Tom Fell out there. Worcestershire 2XI currently. Played with him at school and he broke every record there was, never looked in trouble and was literally the most annoying player to bowl at.

Just oozed class, no idea why he missed out on England U19's this year. To show how good he is, he even outclassed Shiv Thakor (U19 captain) when we played Uppingham. Shiv was bowled 3rd ball for a duck and Felly knocked around a classy 78 not out and won us the game. Serious potential.
