Stuart Broad

I personally think he is very overrated. In the shorter formats of the game he is always getting smashed around the park. Seems a bit smug aswell.
Opinions?

Pretty much agree. He's the most big headed cricketer in the England squad. He's massively over rated because of the odd good performance and really needs kicking back to county cricket, stripping of his central contract and told to buck up his ideas. Won't happen though.

same as you, i would much rather have a genuine quick in the side (stuart meaker) or a better batsman (james taylor, Jonny bairstow) as broad isnt really bringing anything to the side atm, yeah he bowled well in the 1st t20 but thats been one game in a long time, id love to him get back to his ashes 2009 oval match and lords vs pakistan batting best but i dont that will happen with this long term heel injury

He is a decent cricketer and can be brilliant on his day, but I have my reservations about him being the captain. When he said ".... the theory being that on a small ground you can chase virtually anything with wickets in hand"...really !!! Virtually any score ???

He is just a bit of a form horse, brilliant on his day and useless off it. When he is on form there is no doubt his bowling is nigh on unplayable, however being a maverick type player that he is, this is not produced consistently. He is the sort of player I would like in my team, attitude aside, because he has won more games for England than he has lost for them. I do agree though that this sort of player shouldn't be a captain.

bemused he's still classed as an allrounder, he looks absolutely clueless with bat in hand at times

Dont like or rate the bloke, cant help thinking the problems of last year were KP yes-but maybe others have heads the size of basketballs.
Thing is with KP he'a got the talent no question.
Not sure Broad is captaincy material and would like to see England play onions and bat prior at 6 as an allrounder.no place in the test side for Broad for me personally

I think his batting has rapidly gone downhill and can't now be considered an all-rounder also I can't really remember the last time he made a meaningful contribution (Ashes 09??). Still has faults with his bowling action which have not been rectified which means he will never be a consistent bowler nor quicker than early 80's mph average. Although he is a confident individual meaning he will still have good days very occasionally. A lot has been invested in him so I guess he is here to stay.

On current form he is useless as simple as that.

He needs to sort his injury problems and go bowl and bat in county cricket as basically he is just taking the place of someone far more deserving in all 3 forms at present time. He was Englands golden boy but that can no longer be the case

As Botham said it is harder to get out of the England side at times than to get into it

He is a bit of a twerp, lets be clear on that....

...and no way should be captain of anything...

...but I can see why England like him.  Six foot plenty, decent pace, can bat and field and on his day bowls like a middle class Glen McGrath.  If they could train the twerp out of him he might make a great player.

I don't think he will though.  So the question really should be, is the unfulfilled Broad better than the other seamers available?

I think that last sentence sums him up. Do you play him as an all rounder on the hope that he scores 50 or as a bowler when you hope he takes 5? If he's not meeting the demands as either one or the other, who do you replace him with?

Probably got given the 20/20 captaincy ahead of his time.  Hasn't really put consistent performances on the board in any format.  I know the selectors want him for the balance he "provides", but havent seen the performances to justify that.  There must be someone who can bat in that 6, 7, 8 slot and bowl with reasonable heat maybe a left armer to provide some variety?

His arrogance is astounding, but given then his is T20 captain he thinks he is the dogs.

Bats himself above better batters - Hey he is captain he can do what he wants.

Can bowl when he chooses too. When he doesn't, I may as well bowl.
