whats the story with some of these?
Bruce- We all call each other bruce, stemmed from a load of us going to Egypt on holiday and has stuck for 5 years!
Baffoon- Not neally sure
Loon (loon head, loon face) This came from the soon to be father in law, think I called him a loon first but it stuck on me!
Bovine- I was about to call someone a baffoon but bovine came out instead?!
Coy- Surname
Pal- as in friend, an old coach used to address every one as 'Pal'
DeCoy- first name David... One cricket tour to Mallorca CC, scorers shoted bowlers name, With a reply of 'Did his mother not think!'
Barrett- Unfortunately, this is one of my middle names :( I'm getting married in April, I think I'm gonna have to get the bloke to pause for laughter

One of the funniest I heard was a guy who rejoiced in the nickname 'Fatal' - quite pleasing for a bowler, with connotations of doom, death, inevitability, the hour of reckoning.
He was miffed when he realised that it was actually a bit of a pun and he was actually being called Fat Al.  :D

Some good ones we've had over the years -

The Ghost (our opening bowler, possibly the whitest man on the planet)
Swiss Toni (a batsman who resembled the Fast Show car salesman)
The Morse Code Kid (dot, dot, dash - his batting was always blocks and quick singles)
LGL (the Forum's very own Leo - I'll let him explain)

Favourite pro one - Peter Hartley used to be known as Daisy at Yorkshire - because some days he does it and some days he doesn't.

Mine are pretty boring, its normally one of 3

Jordo - my names Jordan
Jowen - put the J from Jordan with my surname and you get Jowen
Wolfie - this started at work because I apparently look like Eddie Munster and it got carried over to cricket

Bones or Boner if they're feeling particularly nasty, as I used to be super skinny, and someone once described me as a bag of bones and it stuck.

My all time favourites from cricketers are

Spikes and Crime.

Wilks or wilkie, as it's my surname

We have a couple of nicknames within our team, I dont really have one.

Minty (Paul Murray -> Murray Mint)
Little Mint (Paul's son)
Deano Bambino (my dad, Dean)
Rafa (captain who looks like Rafa Benitez)
Deadly (bowler called Derek who bowls pie chuckers)
Dudley (same bowler because someone thought we were saying Dudley, not Deadly)
Silly Jerry and Jerry the Berry (2 Jerrys so have to have nicknames, ones a bit of a prat)

fasteddie - when I was in the Army I was first out of the door when there was any kind of sport or an operation availavble.
eddie - because my surname is Edwards
mr rivers - a friend wrote a book and there was an army character called mr rivers. Apparently he based the character on me!

I was named "scud" at one game. It didn't last long but my innings consisted of me swinging a missing an awful lot. Somehow I got to 50. Scud, because I never hit anything!
