Bat Toe Compression Crack
« on: February 24, 2013, 06:53:53 PM »

hey guys, used my new Slazenger V6 from IJC for the 3rd time tonight, caught one on the toe off a yorker and was rewarded with the resulting toe crack:

Now obviously it can't just be glued and clamped, any of the geniuses on here have any words of wisdom?

Cheers

I would glue it and clamp it. Knock your bat in a bit more as well

Be interesting to see how far it goes into the toe under the toe guard

So when something like this happens to you brand new pride and joy, despite the obvious disappointment, are people fairly accepting that unfortunately this can happen to bats and you just have to live with it?

What do I glue and clamp?

Glue round the cracks and clamp the crack lines. Might need two clamps or to do it in 2 stages, as the crack runs across and down.

Had something similar happen to me with the bat Dom refurbed, on the inside edge of the toe. Unfortunately, it is just something that happens.

Yes, especially on the toe, spent ages on that.

Send it to Slazenger? Say you're not happy etc, kick up a fuss and ask for something to be done about it

A compression crack on the toe is hardly Slazenger's fault. I'd expect them to tell you that it wasn't knocked in properly and to get stuffed. If I made bats I wouldn't accept a return for something like that on the toe.

You can at least try Slazenger. Most people will replace a bat that breaks quickly after being purchased. Or perhaps they will replair it for free or soemthing?

i would remove the toe guard. glue the cracks and then flat sand it down. re apply the toe guard a bit of tape and an antiscuff and it will be fine. I did this on a mates GN after he was told he didnt prepare it properly. been going for 2 seasons without any issues.
