Oh no England lost a test match quick better drop everyone... Serious?

I think if you stop, listen (well read)! You will see people were already talking about the very same thing before this series.  Did anyone want it to happen? No, we'd e happy with them all scoring runs and taking wickets but life isn't like that. Players can look the part and just not be good enough. Same as ugly people who people write off can come up trumps through natural skill and mental powers. Cook isn't as perfect as bell say, BUT... One scores more runs than the other etc

We got put in on a seaming swinger with damp air on an overcast morning and not enough batting practice. It's not the end of the bloody world. Yes there were some brain melts out there, but it's not the crisis everyone is making out.

Weather for the next few days is supposed to be good, draw on the cards and onto the next match. Give Compdog a chance, Bell won't be dropped because they just won't do it, regardless of his 'mental capacity' issues.

Christ, it was a bad day at the office, that's all! I remember once when I made too many copies of a contract at work and wasted some paper (my boss hates that, into her green planet stuff). I wasn't sacked and replaced by the work experience girl, the one who eats all the hobnobs and moans she's put on weight. Bloody media getting their claws in again.

I agree, while it was a shocking performance, it's just one day! There's a lot of cricket to be played and this may serve as a kick up the butt which the team needs if they think they can just turn up and roll over sides.

England are a tempting 12/1 to win this Test now, remember this is a similar New Zealand side who only recently got skittled out for 47. One for those risk seekers there...

Bell averages 46 from 83 tests with 17 centuries and 34 fifties.. I know I wouldn't be dropping him. Finding form and scoring big can be only a game away

It's not just about past glories its about the now and future. Stats are great but they are not the whole picture and only indicate the past, not the now or future. Just look at shewag

Don't even know why you would compare him to Sehwag.. Not Evan similar style of players... A slogger with a good eye v's A class batsman.. Bell is 31 with his best years to come. No on second thoughts yeah drop Bell

Different players yes but if we just throw stats around then shewag is better and still is (even though he's been dropped). I think again if you listen a fair few question bells selection, not on how pretty he looks but on mental side. It's as much mental as it is anything else.

A fair few also believed him to be the best batsman in the world not so long ago.. The same few wanted him dumped as soon as he/England failed.

Everyone has there own opinion... My opinion is that I wouldn't drop him.

Bell is always the scapegoat when something goes wrong for England.  Clarke has been rightly lauded for averaging over 100 in 2012 but hardly anyone gave Bell anywhere near the same amount of praise when he averaged over 100 in 2011.

Got to say, huge fan of test matches being played at venues like this. The Army sound like 30 lads belting out Jerusalem in a car park. Got the surround sound, and could swear I heard a bloke just stub his fag out

Proper cricket viewing, in a stunning country, with your mates whilst having a beer at 10am.

Probably the best spectator sport in the world in an environment like that...
