Got to say, huge fan of test matches being played at venues like this. The Army sound like 30 lads belting out Jerusalem in a car park. Got the surround sound, and could swear I heard a bloke just stub his fag out :)

Proper cricket viewing, in a stunning country, with your mates whilst having a beer at 10am.

Probably the best spectator sport in the world in an environment like that...

agreed. I like seeing games played in these sorts of grounds rather than 80k seaters etc.

Remember reading Freddie's book and he commented on the fact he never enjoyed the MCG when he was skipper in that series we all pretend never happened.

20k is big enough for a cricket match, you get the feeling the little nuances of cricket are lost in the big grounds.

England 10/1 to win the test from here, tempter.

I've also taken England to win @ 11/2 on a 'draw no bet' stake.

Here's hoping...

Looking at this track it looks to have gone very flat today and there is no swing or seam movement for either of the bowlers. Could be possible for England to bat the best part of 2 days. New Zealand I doubt will bat any longer than all day today if they last that long.

Can't see an England win but the draw I think is still a good possibility.

That's the spirit mate. He never did, the Daily Mail made it all up. The Ashes was cancelled that year

Top work from MP and Jimmy.

Skittled for 50 before lunch and Compo to get a double ton.

I'm never wrong (according to the missus)

Quality knock from Rutherford, nice to see a good young player from the Southern Hemisphere at last. Not seen one for a while.

Yep, cracking knock fella. Keep doing that (or even half that!) game in game out and NZ have a little Gem.

Felt for the other guy as well getting out but he just didn't get forward and paid the price. Looking comfy for NZ though and Williamson isn't shabby :(
