You say it like he's failed repeatedly! He's only into his fourth test match, and he's performed admirably when called upon (India, final test, to save the game). And as for queuing up, well there's Bairstow, Taylor, Alex Hales (opener but could move Compton to middle order), Gary Ballance, James Vince, Morgan, Patel, or indeed Prior, which would mean finding an all-rounder at 7... Woakes would be a decent shout. There are options, if you look. Taylor is sheer class, and has been banging on the door of selection for a couple of years now.
Not failed but remember the same scrutiny Compton was under they all should be under.
That list worry's me a tad I do not see anybody outstanding James Vince is a interesting one
It interesting each county fans putting there own players in.
All great debate I hope root saves the test and starts repaying the faith people, are showing him.
Gary Ballance really?
Yes we are harsh indeed it called debating cricket..
I think it is realism 2 tests ago Root was going to take Compton place and be England opener for the next 15 years with the way people where talking...
It a debate and the England management like Root and I suspect they know a lot more than me
