Salix Torque Players
« on: March 07, 2013, 01:57:13 AM »

Not much to say but WOW!! unfotunately this has been damaged on the way over here. Initially it just looked like a dent on the back edge of RH outside edge but upon closer inspection there is also a thin crack right in the middle of the dent. I can't believe my luck, my first Salix and its damaged :(...finishing is unlike any other i have ever seen, absolutely fantastic looking bat and feel equally good in hand...if anyone ever said Salix bats are small they should see this beast...gave her a little soak in linseed oil...

here are the pics

and now the damage, I know its not huge but it is disappointing none the less  >:(

Lovely bat tushar..how much does it weigh ? 2lb 10 ?
Bat shipment boxes should be labeled Handle with Care
Hopefully the shipment company can do some reimbursement
Paul most of time uses Fedex - so getting a refund should be faster than Royal mail (i never got mine)

That's an absolute beauty Tush. Such a shame about the damage and couldn't have happened on a nicer bat. Pretty sure Paul puts "fragile" tape on his bat boxes. But sometimes I wonder if couriers see that as an invitation to be even more harsh...

Wow Tush, what grains. Shame about the damage, was there inadequate packaging to protect it? Or just badly handled?

There was plenty of fragile tape on the parcel, and the bat was packaged snugly enough, but no bat cover.  Apparently the box had a hole in it but there was no damage to the bubble wrap inside, so it's clearly another case of poor handling from these careless couriers.  The parcel was insured, but I doubt there'll be any comeback there, as the bat is clearly in a usable condition (I think we'd only get a refund if it was properly broken).  Not convinced it's time well spent pursuing that avenue, but it is incredibly frustrating when this happens.  I will approach with caution with FEDEX the next time...

Do you have a courier account Paul? Its very easy to process claims with them if you are an account holder, even for damage like this. You'll also notice a distinct drop in issues like this once you file a claim or two.

By the sound of it even a bat cover wouldn't have prevented the damage. Tushar, you'll just have to bat very straight and show the full face of the bat at all times.  ;)

Thats as likely to happen as India finding good fast bowlers tomorrow ;)...

Box had a lot of fragile tape and stickers on it, I don't think Paul could have done more to be honest. Fedex applies those sticky bags on boxes that contain invoices etc and the hole was hidden under there, I suspect the damage happened very early on after the pick-up. Anyways is paul wishes you pursue the claim it is up to him, I can and will still use the bat so not bothered about any compensation but it is disappointing..its almost like bat box got wedged between 2 things and it caused the dent, thankfully it is not on the face

yes the weight is supposed to be 2'11 but haven't weighed it yet, does not pick up light or heavy, feels like a good chunky bat in hands..
