Youth vs Mens helmet
« on: March 08, 2013, 05:08:38 PM »

Hey Guys,

Could anyone please tell me if youth and senior helmets provide the same amount of protection? a friend of mine needs one but he's got a small head (55 cms) so that puts him in the youth category...

At youth level i am assuming the bowling is a little slower so are the helmets made slightly lower in protective/ impact quality as well?

Thanks
Tushar

All junior lids I've seen have looked identical just smaller.

You think that would be enough though if he is facing 60-80 mph? I guess cheap is another consideration as its his head and not mine :)

Ayrtek Junior lids are identical to Senior ones i believe, just a smaller liner and grille.

I'm pretty sure ALL helmets must meet a required safety standard. As long as the helmets you buy (so any of the top brands will have it) have that safety mark he'll be fine.

I'd imagine if anything the youth protection would be higher.

I know what you mean as parents you'd want to save those little critters from any harm by providing top quality protection (while they suck the lifeblood out of you and drain your wallets ;) ) but I asked because I assumed the speed at which the ball is coming at you is slower at youth level, although anything off the edge doesn't care if its a kid or not...

this is a massive point of discussion currently in the helmet market due to the fact a vast majority of people have access to a bowling machine!

our junior helmet offers the same level of protection as the adult one and caters for a 55cm had too :)
