Job Interview
« on: March 10, 2013, 01:28:43 PM »

Afternoon guys

I've secured myself a job interview for the role of community cricket coach for Gloucestershire Cricket Board, and as part of the interview I need to run a session with the aim of getting children to choose cricket. Any help or ideas would be massively appreciated. Its 15 minutes and for between 25-30 year 8 children!

'Make it fun' and 'Game based activities' is not going to cut it either!

Cheers

Like the idea of interesting training aid, katchet, skyer, flexi stumps, fumble balls

I'd play continuous cricket with them. Simple rules, everyone is involved in the game at all times and promotes the use of cricket skills subtly, whilst still having fun.

A session to encourage kids to take up cricket has to be fun, otherwise they'll be turned off instantly.

Just not sure whether that is a session worthy of an interview lol. That would be what I would probably do to be honest!

What are they likely to expect? If the session remit is to encourage children to take up cricket then its no good going off into a level 3/4 coaches technical session. Continous cricket or the Lords game or similar, basic fun session is what i would expect as an answer to a challenege like 'encouraging children to take up cricket'

Is there no other remit/advance warning on what they expect?

Perhaps diamond cricket with a group that big? Gets more involved at one time to keep the interest going.

Good luck nick.

Perhaps get a gym matt out and get them doing diving catches and then run outs etc. when ever I have seen this the kids love it.

All the best
