Kettlebell Workout
« on: March 11, 2013, 05:59:34 PM »

I've recently bought myself a kettlebell and been using it for a couple of weeks now but I'm struggling to find a decent workout that I can follow. So far I've just been following exercises from YouTube and places like Mens Health but I've yet to find a decent complete body workout.

Does anyone have one they are willing to share? Has anyone got any exercises they recommend specifically for cricket?

Kettlercise DVD is great I use it from time to time but customised my workout between bits of insanity and the above

Resurrecting a bit of an old one here but over the last couple of months I've finally starting to finally do something about getting fit. Been using myfitnesspal to help diet and also walking a lot more - at least 2 miles a day and often 6 or so when I walk to work and have lost just over a stone to date.

I'm now looking at stepping it up to try to get stronger and also lose more weight as I could really do with being fitter and would like to bowl a bit quicker. Kettlercise looks ideal and would save me joining a gym or starting running as I hate running. Does anyone have a recommendation on what weight of kettlebell to get for a beginner? I'm 6'2 , 15 stone and not a weakling but my upper body strength has always been under par. The kettlercise site recommends 8kg but I'm just a bit way of that being too light.

Right cheers, I'll stick to the 8kg then. I've seen the clips and it looks pretty good - is it easy enough to do in limited space as I'll probably end up doing it in the spare room.

I do it in living room

Only trouble you'll have is with tricep curls over head as close to roof lol

Blokes in vid who are fit only use 10-12kg

Just had my kettlercise delivered today, had a bit of time over lunch so I thought I'd try the quick 20 minute workout. 8kg is more than enough, I'm knackered after 20 mins and my arms feel like jelly.

Will do, though I suspect I'm one of the more unfit people on here so others may well find it easier. I'm just looking to lose a bit more weight and get fitter and stronger. I've been walking quite a lot more, upto around 30 miles a week, but as I hate the gym and have an office job I thought I'd give this a go.

I think I'll do the 20 minute one a good few times before I try the longer one as I reckon it'll kill me off. I'm hoping to do it 3 or 4 times a week so hopefully I'll notice a difference.

I've been doing the quick kettlercise workout around 2 or 3 times a week now since early June and its certainly been helping me shift a bit of weight alongside playing cricket/eating better/walking more. Since March this year I've lost over 2 stone, I'm probably slimmer than I have been for 10 years and I'm now back under the recommended weight for my height, hoping to lose another stone or so over the next couple of months. Definitely helps with playing as my knees no longer get sore like they did a bit last year and my back has felt better.

Quite enjoying the kettlercise so I'd definitely recommend it, don't feel massively fitter yet but I was very unfit to begin with. Might all be psychological but it does feel like I'm a bit stronger.

Glad it's going well for you. I'll take it up again at the end of the season as I felt pretty good at the start of this season. I don't think it's an exercise you'll get massive aerobic improvements (unless you combine it with other exercises). I took a few classes and 50% would be kettlebells and the rest would target other parts of the body to give the back a rest - press ups, squats, burpees etc. As kettlebells incorporates quite a few "natural movements" you'll be getting stronger without lifting anything heavier. It's more farmers strength than gym strength
