Slazenger Pro Tour Leather Bags Have Arrived!
« on: March 15, 2013, 02:29:59 PM »

Bloody beautiful.

These are the items that i have been most excited about from the new 2013 ranges, specifically the smaller Travel Bag.

As you can see, everything the gentleman cricketer needs can be stored in the bigger bag. I've got some whites, pads, gloves, bat, cap, and a box in there. Plenty of room for a pair of cricket shoes and a thigh pad also.

The smaller bag is the one i will be using to carry my change clothes for post game beers, along with warm up/training kit, hoodies etc. It's got a similar capacity to a sports bag.

These bags ooze class, made of 100% quality leather. Top quality zips and straps, and a waterproof red liner, which is a nice touch and will keep the leather in great shape.

We sell the large bag for £160 and the smaller one for £85, with free delivery.

They do look good, however functionality may be a bit of a struggle with the big bag?

These pictures were put up specifically with Uzair in mind, as myself and him have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of these bags.

They look lovely but they are very expensive for a bag!

Agreed. But it is a similar price point to the M&H leather bag which is very popular.

Some people might be put off with the bag being slazenger compared to M&H..... I know slazenger produce some top quality products but sports direct have ruined them!

The Sports Direct negativity is still widely held, even amongst some of the retail world. They are doing some good things behind the scenes though. Including getting rid of the god awful distributors that they used to use. The pro tour range is a very good step back into the classy end of the cricket market, which is where slazenger was in its heyday.

THe big bag goes head to head with the M&H one, so comparisons can be made there. I absolutely love this travel bag though. Similar sized/quality items were £200-£300 direct from fashion label factories when i was in Bali recently.

i reckon if you are looking to buy one of these. Functionality is last on your list of priorities. The gentleman cricketer isn't interested in wet vaults and bat caves. He want's something that oozes style and sophistication. I imagine the type of guy who will buy this bag will have a moustache, smoke a pipe and will drink only a pint of Bitter or have a Gin & Tonic. ;)

Basically this fellow.

The aren't on Sports Directs website and PDC don't stock Slaz as far as i'm aware.

It's the red cricket ball-esque design feature stitched in to the corners that put this above the M&H in my opinion. Some may think it's a bit gimmicky as you are going for a classic look but I think it makes it a cricket bag rather than an all-purpose holdall.

Would like to have the pair but unfortunately have more pressing needs to spend my hard-earned on.

But it's not just the cost of the bag, you also have to buy the cravat, panama and 1950's sports car to go with it.

My age is against me there, wouldn't be able to insure the car!  :(
