Afridi vs ?
« on: March 17, 2013, 11:00:18 PM »

Is Afridi the biggest hitter in the game?

Just watched the highlights of his innings vs South Africa and to hit out of the ground at the Bull Ring is some HUGE hitting and I don't think I can think of seeing many 6's of that magnitude let alone the 3-4 2nd tier 6's he hit.

That 6 out of the ground was enormous. Probably the biggest one I've seen. It was a shame he couldn't hang around for a couple more overs to get his century and to set up a close finish.

It helps playing at high altitude!

It helps playing at high altitude!

Definitely due to lower atmospheric pressure. If you whirl a frisbee on top of a mountain it will travel a much greater distance than ground level.

Of course playing at altitude helps. But it doesn't stop it being an enormous 6.

1:10 on this vid for those that didn't see it.

He was still hitting some mighty sixes in that innings even with an injured thumb!!

Good to see him back in some sort of form

Gayle's 6 out of The Oval vs Brett Lee was one of the biggest I've seen

Agreed, I think he might have inherited a little from his old man.

Ignore the score and enjoy the hitting

Gayle has to be in the same big hitter category

Chris Gayle is literally a beast. Pure entertainer.

If we become more selective then with all due respect to Chris Gayle one has to admire Shahid Afridi. His physique and even bat weight is absolutely negligible compared to Gayle, so takes a lot to do that.

I have always had soft spot for Abdul Razzaq, so would throw his name albeit he is no where near aforementioned names.

Afridi. Gayle and Pollard are definitely in the same group of huge hitters and the likes of McCullum wouldn't be too far behind!
I still think that one or the hardest and cleanest hitters of the ball is Buttler!

Chris Gayle at his finest -

Chris Gayle smashing Brett Lee

The first 2 are worth the entrance fee alone, absolute carnage!

Another good'un is KP, most of the time he picks the quickest bowler around and puts him as far into the stands as he can, even in tests...
Kevin Pietersen 149 Vs South Africa 2nd Test 2012 - Cracking Knock HD
11.40 for that ridiculous straight drive v SA last year!
Kevin Pietersen vs Dale Steyn a Massive Six
and again off Steyn... Definitely a few others worth watching on youtube of him!
