That's just crap. As a quick bowler I never bowl short intentionally at teammates in nets unless we are working on something and they know it's coming. I'd just feel like an (No Swearing Please) if I ever injured a teammate deliberately bowling bumpers at him.

I use to tell our guys that you should bowl as you do in a game, otherwise what's the point. Nets is about practise and improving your skills. Trying new things is great but that should be alongside bowling accurately at the same time.

Get your coach/captain/man in charge to do a 3 * 3 grid and track where each ball lands. Bottom 3 squares are short off/short straight/short leg. Middle 3 are good length/off/middle/leg and top 3 full off/middle/leg. Fine or punish anybody bowling outside the top left 4 squares ie. good/full on middle/off side. That will sort them out :-)

That does sound a unnecessary thing to do, however i think that the bowlers should be prepared to bowl some short stuff at you if they feel that is the way to get you out. Try and make nets as realistic as a match situation, such as getting one bowler to bowl an over at a time at a batsman so as to implement a plan to get them out. Also means that you can stretch less bowlers across 2 nets when numbers are shorter.

Do you guys have quicks?? Haha

Trying to guess who this is now as a few candidates

No everyones as quick as you Aaron, they can't help that. But it doesn't matter how fast it is, I wasn't troubled by it, it was just completely pointless and a waste of 3 bucks

I walked out of a net because of this once and refused to bowl at the ballends who kept trying to take my head off when they batted. Soon got the message accross to them

Guy at my club sees bowling bouncers at me as a challenge to show his pace. He's not that fast, but put it down at a good speed in last nights nets. I see it as a chance to try out new skills. I usually give him the charge too get as close to the pitch as possible and smash it back at him. Its also given me the opportunity to try the ramp shot. Its much harder than it looks and its taken me several weeks to even get a bat on it.

Has it not also occurred to you that perhaps if you haven't been around for a year maybe you shouldn't have taken second hit? If there are guys who turn up week-in week-out they would probably feel you were jumping the queue a bit.

The guy still sounds like a (No Swearing Please) though. And I moved from a club like that a few years ago when I wasn't getting anywhere and I've come on a lot since. There are idiots everywhere, but some clubs have a culture of improvement and good team spirit. Try to find one like that

It's not the point, I said to him after he started crying he could bat instead of me 2nd up. I've been to every net, week in week out the same as he has.

Yeah! Anyway, what sort of weeny **** starts crying about not batting when HE wants to at a club net! Guy sounds like a massive tool Wilkie. Smash his face in with a soft pocket.....that'll learn him.  :D

At least you guys get nets, ours are so early in the evening that only skivers, the unemployed or those who work locally can make it!  Organise and something in a brewery doesn't come close to it!!!!

Oh and plus its in the most inaccessible place going!

On the positive side the wickets do resemble an early season pudding of a wicket!

Quite annoying this there was a lad who used to play for us who found it entertaining bowling short indoor.

I found it more amusing watching him doing the same outside and getting hammered and leaving the club after three games spitting his toys out the pram.
