Ping-tastic new Aldred Bat
« on: March 20, 2013, 12:04:53 PM »

Even though getting late for work this morning....i have to post these pics ....
A quick summary - Took Paul's Silver bat offer and got a custom shape....Long handle , short blade , spine that ends at the toe and thick meaty profile
Here's what paul delivers - masterpiece (with one Issue - working with Paul to resolve it)
Ping is amazing - one of the best i have seen
Finish is top notch

Enjoy the pics for now

The weight is the issue
Requested weight was 2lb 9oz
As per paul it should be 2lb 9oz
But my scale shows 2lb 11.8 oz...and that is the reason for can of soup weigh scale test
I am confident that my scale is correct ...the bat is for a friend who will see it today.
If he likes it we are good ..if not we need CBF to arrange a Duel (just kidding.. respect Paul ..lets see how this bat thing goes)

You've got to love an Aldred!

You've given me a twitchy finger...

That's a great idea and excellently executed.

Mr A is certainly building a well deserved rep.

We will get there. As I said to i12 my scales say 2-9 but hay ho. I am happy with my scales but looks like I am going to have to look at others. Don't get many people query out of the dozens we send out but what can I say the customers are always right.it is an absolute beaut and the same weight as I would have used as a pro and it feels very very nice indeed. First one I have made of that particular style.

I'd use it and I'm not into gimmicky bats or kit. It still looks like a traditional cricket bat which is good in my eyes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed his friend likes it as I spent ages on it as I haven't made that shape before and I do genuinely get very upset if something isn't right as each bat that goes out is incredibly personal to me. But let's see eh.

Don't worry Paul, if Amit's friend doesn't like it I might take it off him ;)..in my weight range that if it truly is 2'11 dressed...

Paul, I think it's time for some digital scales! ;)
Saying this because if you remember correctly something similar happened to my bat and I unfortunately have to sell it on since it was too heavy for me. Would not have been an issue if I were based in the UK but if you stay overseas it becomes a bit tricky.
Gotta admit that that's the only thing that's keeping me from ordering another Aldred since you are delivering some beauties!

Well guys looks like I have got to get some digital scales to keep up with all you guys with them but forgive me for my confidence with the ones I use which weren't cheap although not vastly expensive ones but as I was so worried today I ran over to my mates hard wear shop and pinched some of their old scale weights that they used to use and here's some photos with the results. But like I say I will have to get some electronic if that's the case . Firstly the 1Lb then added the 4oz then the 2oz to weigh up to 1Lb 6oz

Gary at choice uses an old fashioned set of scales.

If they work they work.
