How BIG can we go?

Stop Press  -  KIPPAX have developed a new fully legal Grade A bat that has edges in excess of 50mm and will weigh well under 3llb.  It will make its appearance in the domestic T20 this season.  Keep your eyes peeled to witness something quite unique.

Edges in excess of 50mm? That must be a huge bat but controlling weight must be a serious issue i believe. Would be interested in pics once ready.

well, of about a dozen bats of around 3lb I have at home, none have edges above 45mm...

Surely Mongoose bats already acheive this? They're only 2/3rd's of the willow of a normal bat.

I have bats at 2-7 with 42mm edges it is easily possible and if you look at it kippax do have there pick of wood being possibly the 2nd largest supplier of English willow in the world

Never seen a mongoose that is anywhere near 50mm.

My laver ultra is 49/50mm at 2-11 from a standard cleft

I would of thought that it would be an oversized cleft to get above 50mm and under 3lb should be easily achievable

From what Laver told me, a standard cleft is roughly around 50-55mm to which you would lose around 5mm to pressing.

As we are guessing I would not of thought these bats would be low density clefts, I'm guessing there will be 1-2 inches off the blade and a longer handle.

Roughly yes, however kipper has got a massive batch of oversized clefts. Think is they can cut clefts at what ever size they like...that's one of the good things about being involved from tree - finished product.
