I think the key with Pakistani bats is hand picking them yourself (although that could be said for all). I remember going into the UT shop in Karachi many years ago (around the time they signed Afridi), it wasn't until I asked the right questions that I was shown the 'special' selection of bats. In the end the guys in the shop bought out about 20 - I had to tell them to stop!! haha... I couldn't possibly test all 20 for rebound, etc.

Despite my cousin knowing what to look for, I am always sceptical of letting someone else pick a bat for me. Which is why if there was an alternative (cheaper) brand, I would be more comfortable taking a punt.

I think CA are the safest bet though. I've owned some stormers and recently have held some nice ones which have been bought back by Pakistani pros.

Perhaps I'll give mids a go.

I wouldn't mind going to all manufacturers as they have very good bats if i was picking one for myself. CA and Ihsan are obviously the choices though Boom Boom will not be a bad idea. last time i visited them, i came cross Riaz Afridi's bat and i can say that i had not seen a monster in flesh that big. the edges were probably around 40 but it was the spine and the overall size that was unbelievable and it was there to be copied as he needed more such bats.

Mids and others are very good too. AM is a good option but i am not too sure about their dealings. i did not find them pleasant. Malik obviously is another one. I still feel that very few bats can perform better than the sher and bubber sher.

and try to pick blank bats rather than stickered ones, judge the bat on its playing qualities rather than the sticker on top of it.

I'd agree with you there Armatron - you don't need to look much further than a decent Sher!

I have got both Mids X-Power and Ca 15000 LE !  I got a double blade custom X-Power from them with 45-50 mm edges and the weight felt like 2.7-2.8, so I would advise get a mids X-Power. Ca was nice as well but I could not hit sixes that much easily with it.

Without meaning to sound rude isn't that more down to the batsman than the bat??
