Good post I suppose, but I disagree with you calling it a 'dead-game', the final test was lively and swung both ways with Australia definitely in with a good chance to take a consolation victory with them. Not to mention the sledging between the fierier characters from each side.

Also it's somewhat insulting to suggest that Tendulkar should've sold himself out for the BCCI so they could milk the last test match for money. The man has played for his love of the sport and his country for 2 decades and I can't see how he would allow his retirement to be dramatic for the sole purpose of filling the BCCI's pockets.

Certainly I think that may be the end of Tendulkar, I think he might call it a day after the SA tour, since his experience will be vital overseas.

I didn't mean sell it out so much as create the same commotion that surrounded his 100th century. He does deserve a huge send off.

It seems almost impossible to think of an Indian team without the Genius name of Tendulkar.
He and Dravid are two of my hero's.

Probably was his last home test as they said that the next home test for India is sometime in 2014.

It seems a long way off for someone towards the end of their career.

Cannot see him still holding down a test place a year from now.

Still don't see the lad doing it willingly - I keep harking back to that comment "batting is the only time I get to feel normal" and reckon he will probably feel that he has a year or two left in him yet.  And the lack of home tests helps him - he'll doubtless score a few million cheap runs in the IPL then have a nice long holiday.

Incidentally, for all he had a poor series by his standards against the Ausses, he was still appreciably better than all but one of the front line batsmen that the opposition tried...

To be fair to Lyon, he performed well all series, but you'd have expected to Little Master to have played spin a little better.

No he didn't.  He bowled pies for the first and third tests and looked less dangerous than the three Indian spinners on a minefield in the fourth!

He took 17 wickets in a series where his team where whitewashed and had better innings figures in the final test than all 3 Indian spinners, despite bowling at a considerably stronger batting line-up.

I am not sure if his getting 200 hundred tests will help India in any way. He has been off color for two years now and has been struggling quite a bit so may be he should hang his shoes. He does take a spot from some one who can fit in his place. 23 years plus is a long time and perhaps he should have left at his high like many suggested rather than people demanding it when the going is rough.

he will retire and leave the team when he wants to, the BCCI will not drop him. if they were going to they would have done it by now as he has hardly been top class for the last few series. but as an icon of the game i guess he is allowed some leeway on when he wants to bow out.
