Just oiled this sucker, and the grains have already started opening up... I have only whacked a mallet to test sound and bounced a ball off it before oiling so far...

Question is, to scuff or not to scuff... Either way, I'm not sure this bat is going to last for long! It really does respond extremely well, and I haven't even knocked it in! :-[

Absolutely scuff or at least some edge tape on CA. I would recommend 2 more coats of oil but wait 24hrs between each with a very very light sand to the face before applying oil (no knocking in between) and then start knocking it... also last 2 coats if you do apply them are for face only.

All of my CA bats have performed really well. You need at least 3 coats of oil, knocked it properly and scuff sheet is a must, don't worry these bats surely will last 2 to 3 seasons.
