Right, so I took a punt on something, and it turned out alright!













"Dat profile!" was all I could think when I saw this bat. The stickers are indeed much nicer in the flesh, and have began to grow on me. The willow is not the prettiest, pretty ugly in fact, but the mallet response and ball response is right up there with my Newbery Tour. The more alarming thing is the weight! It weighs 2lb 7.04oz, and looks massive for its weight. It has 34mm edges with minimal concaving, and picks up light (as all 2.7 bats should!). I can only imagine what a 2.10 would look like! I wish it was supplied without the Hammeredge sheet though, as I don't like how it clouds the wood, so cracks aren't as easy to spot, but also because I feel that the edges aren't protected sufficiently with Hammeredges!

Now, onto the profile. I know some people have said that they felt that the Thruxton and the Tomahawk were essentially the same bat, but unless my Tomahawk is different from the rest, I have to disagree! The Thruxton I saw doesn't have too much of a defined spine, while the Tomahawk definitely has a spine, and I would argue is a slightly nicer profile! (Thruxton is still a nice profile though!) The handle is also a very interesting shape, with it being oval at the bottom, receding to quite a thin around 3/4 of the way up the handle and then it expands out again. (Kind of like the Don Bradman handle!) I have no idea what this does, I'm assuming it helps with the pick up and balance, but it feels pretty good in the hands!

All in all, actually very impressed by this bat, although I'm not sure if that's because I really disliked it from the minute I saw it! Definitely worth having a look at one in person!

Nice one Chad. The profile is very nice - definitely quite different to the Thruxton. I can't help but think they would sell loads more of these if not for those stickers. Keen to know how you rate it against your other bats once you've hit the nets with it!

I would have to disagree with you there mate! They have similarities, but are different!

There are also similarities to the old Newbery Zeus and to some of the Choice bats that have been posted recently. I like the profie but wouldn't buy one because of the labels/stickers.

The thing they got wrong about this bat is the sticker at the front and the back splice sticker. They could have been a little more imaginative, perhaps go with a silver themed sticker. I can't fault the design of the profile or the handle of the bat though!

It is indeed, I really like the shape too! Not the biggest bat I have seen for its weight, but among the biggest 2.7s I have seen, and the best responding 2.7 for sure!

If JN stayed within the blue/purple on the front sticker and back one just had JN's autograph that would have look better, I think.
