Not entirely sure (the writing on them says but I've no idea what the code is, Paul or Asad might), but I believe they're all lower grades as AK downgrades heartwood.

Quite, I don't have to choose one of the clefts, but If I do select one then I can make sure it's in my weight range. Unfortunately I don't know the weights or performances of the clefts, so will just have to wait and see.

Wasn't planning quite such an expensive preseason purchase but the Norwegian tax man was kind to me so it's nice to support a local retailer, as i don't get the chance often!

In final form it still came down to a choice between the Pod(far left) and a Presæntha (2nd from the right), the Latter was an Oz lighter and felt better in the hands so I went for it.

is it not possible to get a bat without this brown wood on it these days!

Every bat i have had with it on has split at the join of the brown and white wood

These were all performance grade bats because of the heartwood. I believe Salix won't sell anything with heartwood in it as Players or Grade 1.

i would definatly go for the bat in the middle with the outside edge heartwood,    tasty looking grains and nice straight heartwood down the blade

Looked at some salix at globe sports yesterday. They had a pod, £380 I think, 6 wide straight grains. Also finish is no better than h4l or laver.

My brother's Pod Players has heartwood on the outside edge. It is a good bat for the price I got it for, but I would have expected that to be their Grade 1 offering! :-[

Damnnnnnnn, that is a thing of beauty.  Don't know what everyone has against heartwood, gives it a bit of character in my opinion plus probably knocks a bit off the price from salix

One of the clefts (furthest right i think) turned out to have a huge butterly stain on the back of the bat, and was downgraded to a wasp. If it hadn't been 2'12 I'd have had that away with me instead, a real beauty and downgraded for something with no (or positive depending on who you listen to) effect on performance.

It was a beauty at at a good chunk cheaper than the rest i was very tempted, was way too heavy for me though so made the right decision in the end.
