My club, which plays in Division 4 and 8 of the Pontefract League, is holding a meeting this sunday to pick the 2nd team captain (as we still havent decided!!!). We could do with one or two new players to help bolster an ageing squad.

Anyone fancy a game?

The Pontefract League stretches throughout Yorkshire as far North as Garforth, Leeds, East as outside the M18, south as Doncaster airport and west as 'tother side of Barnsley. So there's always a ground close to home.

Ha, I think everyone's in same boat.

Rumour has it that Notton might go down to one team this season though, not that they've got any good players, but one or two of em would help keep our 2nd team going.

I think Notton have be struggling for a while. There 2s by all accounts where pretty poor for a few years. 1s aren't very good when I last played them 4 years ago.

allways sad when this happens to a club! wouldnt suprise me if it happened to ours unless we get some new players in the next few years

I work in Normanton does that count?! I live North Notts and play in the Bassetlaw league, my club has 4 Saturday sides so I can appreciate the difficulties in putting sides out especially in the height of summer.

What's the league standard like? I would be maybe interested if anyone has nets midweek and doesnt mind a guest every now and then as I struggle to practice - probably 2nd team standard.
