RK Distinction
« on: April 04, 2013, 04:51:58 PM »

Evenings guys, So the weather is crap, snow is lying on the floor outside my house, its -1 outside or so my car is telling me and my season is supposed to start in 8 days time, i think not :(

So what better way to cheer me up than getting my new bat from Ryan. I spoke to him about this at the forum net a month or so back i was going to a get a copy made of a Larson that i liked but the handle on that bat came up SSH so i picked a new cleft and whilst at it asked Ryan to make this into a Distinction profile based on what i had seen i really liked the look of the raised spine, smaller edges.

Well Ryan really has delivered a absolute gem of a bat here, i do not have a Distinction to compare it to but the profile is amazing as well as the pick up, The bat weighs 2.97 so a touch under 2.10 picks up like a 2.7-2.8, 7 perfectly straight and evenly spaced grains running straight off at the toe, single hybrid grip.

Someone said that the finish on there RK was in there opinion not great! Well mine is amazing, the sanding must have taken a while and the attention to the finish on this example is excellent, the edges are rounded perfectly, there is a tiny amount of feathering at the toe and the blade front & back finished to perfection, all thats missing is a wax/polish finish.

the rebound of the mallet is very good first off, i think this is pressed a little harder than the BB and Choice Willow i have bought recently but none the less very good and i think will open up very well, I'm an opening bat so face a brand new cherry every week so being a little harder up front is fine, the middle seems long and big which is exactly what i asked Ryan for and indeed was my main request as i play off front and back foot so really like the confidence of a long middle.

I know many people have placed an order with Ryan and for those thinking of doing so in my opinion he offers a great product, amazing service ( i must have sent him 15+ PM's) with requests etc and he has met every one. This bat was £130 posted for a grade 1 bat and for that i say a big thank you Ryan for cheering up my cold wet day. Here are a few pics. Thanks

about 4/5 weeks but that was due to the original bat coming up with a SSH, you would have to ask Ryan what is normal turn around time would be

Great looking bat, I'd say its more a flare shape than distinction tho.

This has approx a 50mm spine so from a normal cleft i would say that is about as big as you cold get.

Should easily get 60-65, dependant on weight.
Looks a nice bat but not a distinction profile though.
