Yes - do you include Paul Collingwood in that (master of Fielding and just good at hte other stuff)

Was he ever good enough for the England side, that is debatable..He has failed to perform for England when they need him. He was liked by management.

I have always thought that Patel is a reasonable cricketer! He is decent with the bat, and can bowl pretty well most of the time!
His fitness has probably improved but still nowhere close to where it should be (resist the pies Samit!) But the biggest disappointment is his fielding!
It's shocking 95% of the time!  :o

So so wrong, he stood up and played well for England so many times. I seem to remember him being the only batsman to look in any sort of nick in the Australian tour after the 2005 ashes.

Was like by management because he was a wonderful player for us incredibly admirable performer and him going has left a big hole in the test side

And he averaged just over 40 in tests which is quite a good record.
