Fibre tape under Scuff Sheet
« on: April 21, 2013, 09:16:44 PM »

Hi guys

You may have seen I have tried to repair a seriously abused GN Powerbow. As I've done the difficult bit I was wondering if it would be worth putting an anti scuff sheet over some bat tape?
My idea was to put bat tape over the cracks and the slightly loose crack on the face (it was too small to glue really) for added strength to the repair, then put a scuff sheet on as normal to protect the face and keep the moisture in.

Was this a stupid idea or is it worth doing? Opinions please?  :)

Given that the bat tape and scuff sheet will be doing the same thing, holding the face together, it's not worth using the tape under the scuff sheet.

I would just have a scuff sheet, and I put a tape over the edges of the scuff, as they tend to crack around there. :)

I'm going to put a hammer edge one on there so there's going to be tape on the edge anyway  :)
Just need to wait for the oil to dry and I'll put it on there

This.
Also, taking fibre tape off of willow can be a right ball ache.  Another reason to put over anti scuff!
