Anyone used SS Heritage ,Limited Edition or Matrix?
« on: April 29, 2013, 08:59:34 AM »

Basically I want a lighter bat with balanced pick up . I already have SS Torpedo and Argon F2 which is great but I would like a bit lighter bat when I play up the order. And prefer a bat which has  relatively higher middle than the a Torpedo and Argon F2  .

Any other suggestions apart from the SS bats I  have mentioned above.

Thanks

GM Icons have a slightly higher middle so that should pick up a bit lighter I have no experience first hand with these bats but just an idea ;)

Gray Nic Powerbow has a mid to high middle. I've got one in 2lb 8 and it picks up great.

personally if I were you, i would make do with what you have and practise as hard as you can with them - possible investing the money you would have spend on the bat on a couple of coaching sessions.

just a thought.

Agree with the above. I have a L&W reserve made that was modeled on an Icon and picks up extremely light. I made the decision to go with the icon profile after trying a team mate's Icon 3-4 times in nets. It is a very good bat and the middle isn't that high - its just very extended making it easy to play off the front and back foot. Can't go wrong with an icon!

I bought 2 SS LE's from India.... Asked for limited concaving and a high middle weight around 2-10.

Both bats turned up as very nice bits of willow.... One is a little harder pressed but responsive nonethesame.

I did get them reshaped a little (took more weight off the bottom to enhance the pickup) and the handles cut down and pinned (like diddy length handles).

They are both now pretty much identical to my 2 match bats from Pakistan (which are amazing bits of wood)....and knocked in play very, very well.

Some may say lots of hassle - but have got 2 very nice looking and performing G1 bats shaped exactly how I want them for around £150 each.

So in answer to your question SS LE would work well conceptually - but my preference and yours could be hugely different.

I got a SS LE a couple of years ago from Asad at Uzi sport and the sweet-spot is huge with a smooth light backlift, even though it's a 2.11.

The other is a SS custom bought last year, again amazing sweet spot and lovely balance (2.13).

You can't go wrong with a SS LE methinks ...

Had a SS Heritage for a while, loved it to bits, such a good bat, value for money for what you get IMO

In my experience SS bats are usually all variations of the same shape with subtle differences. I have a KP and an LE, very similar shapes with long running middles. The LE is slightly heavier with a higher spine and lots of concaving. Both pick up great though.

As said, can’t go far wrong with an LE.

Had a SS Heritage and wasnt a bad bat, funny thing with SS is you never know which grade bat is going to give you what. Bought a Dragon, heritage and Ranger together on my last trip and the ranger being more expensive had same performance as the Heritage. The dragon was a different level but it was one of those bats .

I know the gut who distributes matrix over here.
He has a few profile shapes and they look very nice bats indeed.
I like a lighter bat and look for pick up and they felt good.

I had an SS LE and hated it! The middle was tiny and the rest of it dead! Might have just had a dud.

Just got a Kippax Legend which is fantastic!
