The Dead Puma Experiment
« on: April 29, 2013, 12:36:07 PM »

Well this was my Puma from way back when... Possibly 2006ish??

I used it until destruction and possibly a few nets after.  It weighs about 2 7ish.

I have done a few refurbs over the last few months and decided to use this bat as an experiment for different glues etc (mainly construction adhesive.  Replacing the toe was quite amusing too!  Will keep you updated as to how it goes when i have a muck around with it in nets, I'm not holding out too much hope!!

That is a job well done!!

What glues did you try? Did you sand by hand?

Right people, if the face has been glued like in this case, would you still oil it? You're not meant to oil near the splice because of glue so can it have the same effect?

I say replacing the toe... haha, what I mean is that dark bit in the toe in the first few pictures came off years ago.  I glued it back in and sanded it into shape.  Thought I did a decent job with it.  And yes, hand sanded.

I mainly used the construction adhesive.  Ridiculously strong, glued a tile to my house with it and cant pull it off for love nor money now, incredible stuff.  I will find out the name of it when I get home tonight if you want.  Not sure how its going to go, as I say I will keep you updated!

I have oiled it btw, because it appears this glue is completely unaffected by it! haha
