RNS Custom
« on: May 08, 2013, 09:12:07 AM »

My bat has finally arrived and it looks a beauty and a fair bit chunkier than I thought it would be. It's a ST profile with a blade thats shorter by 1.5 inches and a long handle. The weight, pre-oiling with two grips fitted is a shade under 2.12 so its pretty much perfection on that front. The pick up is significantly better than any other lowish middle 2.12 I have used and almost as good as my 2.10 Irridium with a higher middle.

I bounced a ball on the bat and the ball seemed to bounce way higher than some of the more expensive bats I had checked out in stores before ordering this. But the noise it made seemed to be a wee bit funny. A couple of players on my team also got a couple of RNS customs made recently and their bats seemed to make a solid thump whereas mine seems to make a funny high pitched noise. Kinda like a whiplash. So, a little concerned about that. Wondering if there will be any shock or maybe it'll change once I've knocked it in. The wood is fairly soft pressed so gonna have to knock it carefully.

Thats about all, me thinks. Have added a few pics for thy viewing pleasure...

Looks nice. I've had a few bats from RNS as samples and they are very nice. Hope it goes well for you.

9000 rupees so that would work out to around 110 pounds.

I got it made directly from the factory in Jalandhar and the price included domestic shipping. Not sure what shipping and taxes will be to the UK.

I was told that it was top grade willow but not sure if its top of the range. I got to specify weight, profile, handle size and shape, grains etc etc....Essentially you can give them whatever specs you require...

RNS make good bats-  however their dealing can be a bit weird at times!

@ CoolC - Sent you a PM mate.

@IQ - I bounced a ball on it a few times and like I said it bounced up really really high, but, the 'sound' is foony. Not at all the thump that I'd expect from a top class bat. I'm hoping its just a knocking in thing. I'm oiling it now and will start knocking it in soon. End of the day, you can test it how many ever ways, what matters is how it goes in the middle. We'll find out soon enough. I'll put up a review in a couple of months. There are two other different shaped RNS customs in my team that arrived in the last month or so. So, it should be easy to judge how good these bats really are. In a bit....
