Slazenger V600 and V1200 "Select"
« on: May 13, 2013, 03:32:29 PM »

A mate of mine gave me his old bats to use them however I want and they look decent pieces of timber. What model in the range would the Select model have been?

According to the back of the Slaz catalogue (one of only a few who state their grading in black and white)

V12       -   Grade 1+
Ultimate -   Grade 1+
Elite      -    Grade 1
V6        -    Grade 2
Pro       -    Grade 2
Test      -    Grade 3
Ultra     -    Grade 4
Select    -    Grade 4

I had a V100 select (i think it was a V100) and i am pretty sure it would have been mid range as i wasn't paying for my gear at the time, cheers dad.

I remember there were many iterations of it. At one point in time I remember something like the below, some of which can be seen in the vintage bats thread.

Panther
Super
Select
Ultimate

But you could also get your hands on a 5 star and a County. I'm pretty sure the County designation was a 70s grading and the 5 star I think was eighties. I don't remember seeing the Pro.

Pro was used in the mid-late 90's when Stewart, Hick and Ramps used them.

Right. Maybe we're all barking up the wrong tree.

I remember the Panther generally had a poly coat, I had a Super V12 in 1992, and I wonder if it was actually, in the late eighties/early nineties:
