BlankBats Laminate Review
« on: May 23, 2013, 04:45:16 AM »

Hello Guys,

First, I'd like to apologies to BlankBats and everyone/anyone who was looking forward to my review.

Anyways, I got this bat few months ago. I just told Canners how I want one in 2.8 mark and did not even ask for pictures or anything as I wholly trust BlankBats so few weeks later it came in post via Tushar. Edges are around 33 cm but that does not bother me.

At first it felt slightly off as I had been immune to thick handle of Screaming Cat and feel of them, but after having sufficient number of grips it felt a lot better. To further add, it has two springs as opposed to standard three.

The ping is absolutely impeccable on this bat, it has a great rebound and elongated middle. More so, a toe which had adequate amount of meat. I spent nearly an hour with mallet and it feels ferocious and makes middle feel impregnable! (Just imitating Mike Tyson words here, pardon me Alvaro ;) ). Honestly, after first BlankBat I knew I would be getting a remarkable bat, it has exceeded my expectations thus much that it is my match bat for 2013 season forgoing the other dozen or so bats I have which included few test players bats even (who is/are in top 10 currently). So that could give you an idea how good it pings.

Alas, the profile resembles my 2009 Gray Nicolls Powerbow (but being an amplified version) which is icing on the cake for me :D

I also got the new gloves which are very very good and big step from last year ones. They have done a great job with these gloves and they feel great. The palm is lovely and they are very flexible. Great gloves really!

If anyone has any question(s) feel free to give me a shout.

Enjoy the pictures.

you have so many legal bats. why would you want to use a laminate as the match bat?

if its not making any difference, then all the more reason not to use a laminate...and its not for anyone else's sake.

Not sure I entirely agree with that.  The differences are likely marginal and as much confidence based/in the mind as anything, but I still think that the laws of the game exist for a reason and should be respected.

Let's not have this argument again. In amateur cricket, Laminates seem to make little difference because most of us don't time the ball well enough. Whether they make a marginal difference at a professional level is unclear. In the meantime, if someone chooses to use an illegal bat, then that is their choice, but if you are aware of it, you should feel free to report it to the umpires.

most league umpires in yorkshire:-

1. Don't know the LBW laws
2. Moan about everything ie. distance to pitch, weather, run-ups, in fact anything you can't control
3. Put players in danger by not knowing the full toss law and telling you to "get on with it"
4. Ban the wrong players for things they didn't do because they don't want to lose face
5. Warm you for slow over rates when they have no idea how long you've been bowling and you've had 2 spinners on for 20 overs

So why does anybody think they even know what a laminate bat is?, let alone do something about it. They only get as far as the section on mileage allowance and umpires fees.
