Sky are showing some highlights from the 1999 test against NZ and Tudor as night watchman played beautifully!  Some amazing shots, especially the whip through mid wicket! There's always hope for us bowlers :D

A talent unfulfilled like so many of that era and just before.

That whip off his toes from Simon Doull was a stunning shot! His lofted on-drive off Vettori was pretty special too, the way he opened himself up and his balance was sublime. He definitely had the requisite talent....such a shame it was unfulfilled.

IIRC, he got 99no, should have got a ton, but Graham Thorpe deprived him of a well deserved century.

I had never seen that innings before, pleasantly surprised! The shots you mentioned were beau-tiful! He also wasn't afraid of playing a cut shot, timed to perfection :D Gutted that he finished on 99* though.

Great shot! The bowler was in a state of shock haha. Nice shot at 7mins 20secs, against the spin vs Vettori.

Was there a particular reason for all the security afterwards?

I could be wrong but it was probably due to the pitch invasion
