So what's the verdict on B3 bats?
« on: May 28, 2013, 07:58:57 PM »

So guys what's the verdict on B3 cricket bats?

Am tempted by the concept, so any feedback would be a great help. How do they measure up performance wise?

Many thanks for your help.

I won one from a Test Match Sofa competition, and it goes like the clappers, can tell just from tapping it up. Massive for the weight as well. Good for those wanting custom down to the finest margins, and reasonably priced as well.

I've used two, they've both been superb. Not at all keen on the pricing. I still think bats made on a machine should be cheaper! That's another argument though. Quality wise definitely right up there.

How is their pressing? Is it similar to GM and requires time to open up?

I have two 3-stripe B3 bats. Both are decent bats but the SH is an absolute pinger whilst the other is long handle, decent enough but feel it will need more knocking and playing in.
But decent sticks definitely

My original 3 stripe is a cracker top top draw and my match bat...

My 2nd 3 crown best of the best is a cracker too just slightly too heavy.

There pricing is spot on disagree with pedals view if you see the science behind it worth the money nobody and I mean nobody can guarantee you what b3 can do total bespoke total customisation.

Most do not understand the process it not just like most Cnc including tk

B3 know what going to get produced in both weight and spec before the cleft goes under

No batmaker can guarantee a 100 per cent shape and weight required to a mm.

B3 can....

My advice is go and see them if your in the area great guys and nobody I have ever met in cricket knows there stuff like Russell.

Dr is also a top bloke the the spec and there blathers who is a top bloke between them there not much they don't know.

Add

Pressing very different to Gunn and Moore

Does anyone know about their willow drying methods? Is it the same as GM?

Hi Dave, I have been interested in the B3 set up and can clearly see you are a big fan but how can the above happen if they know the weight a bat will come out at and can guarantee the shape and weight?

Dave's 2nd B3 bat wasn't made for him, he purchased it knowing it was too heavy as it was a special bat.

Because the clefts are weighted and measured so the design takes into account the weight the cleft is needed to create the shape and also calculates the weight at the end so the edges are mm perfect including sine and the weight it comes out at

Tim is better at explaining than me but there even a formula which streaky uses and it very clever what they do

Sorry thought it was a question yes the 3 crown is or will be launched mine was a special laying around

But my bats I asked for heavier for some reason

That makes sense now, wasn't picking holes just keen to understand the process.

It is all very impressive and I admire the different direction they have gone in.

Mine impressed one of my friends so much he asked for the website and if he could use mine for the time being. Mine's a one stripe custom and goes very well out in the middle.
