He's still not past it, is he? Currently 185* on his Surrey debut. Not bad I suppose!

Just run out for 192, little bit gutted as 200 would have been nice! I think he said in a live interview with Sky that he won't play in the Ashes but is more than happy to help with training sessions and passing on his experience if needed.

I love the bloke, but he made his decision and we all have to move on and accept that it's final.

I entirely agree. I don't believe that they will be as bad as people say (though it would be nice!). It would never go to drastic measures of recalling Ponting. That's like that campaign last Ashes series to try and get Warne to play.

He's the new Warne - coming out of retirement every ten minutes to rescue the team even though no one blooming asks...!

I wouldn't mind having his ability and statistics if it meant I wasn't a great T20 player!

Agree. Found it rather privileged to watch Sachin and Pontin open the innings and the comes Murali to bowl.

Ponting already showed he's still far to good as first class cricket.

He was the top scorer in the shield IIRC

At Test level he struggled to the quality of the Proteas fast bowlers.

I doubt at first class level any side can match that attack.

He's still top quality, even if not as good as he was
