i'd be interested to know which price banding sees the most sales of bats......maybe the big boys with their £300+ bats have missed the point a bit? Or maybe they realisethat they aren't going to sell many of these? Obviously those who use this forum are aware of the other, smaller, makers who are around, but away from this forum, the guys who will stick with GM, GN, Kook, Slaz etc and walk into a shop to buy a bat, how much is the average that they pay?

I think between £150 and £220, from what I've seen (that's brand new).

The most I paid was 185 for a warsop made to my spec but didn't play as well as the butterfly warsop I got to 120. Current bat I have is second hand laver off the forum think I paid 135 or 140 wouldn't pay more than 150 with the quality of bats around here for that money.

I paid $660 AUS for a GM Players Edition Flare.  That was before I discovered the Forum and thought that was the 'normal' price for a top of the range bat. I know better now.

  • If I only could bat....

Most I have ever paid is £210. Most I would ever pay now is probably £165.

The most I have paid is £250 for a SS Ton Player Special, most I would pay is £250 but it would have to be a very special bat.

Most i paid was about 4/5 years ago when i bought a Gray Nics Fusion CT Xi for £185
To be honest have discovered the forum and some of the bat makers on here i wouldnt pay more than about £150/£175 because for that price you should be able to pick up a really decent stick for club cricket.

I still think there's something to be said for picking a bit of wood up and seeing how it feels in your hands.  Ergo, it's better if you can do that at a manufacturer's workshop and have input into the build.

Still, price is a marketing factor.  Some of the brands will charge a high price for their top products not because they think that demand exists at that price point, but because the impression that their company can produce a product worthy of such a price will generate interest in their lower priced wares.

Personally I would draw the line at £150 - there's always the chance that something could push you over that I suppose. For that money you can get some cracking stuff off here, or even custom made at a lower grade.
