.....a bat designed and pitched at purely performance.
It would be a G2 bat.

Probably a second bat for some but main bat for club/jazz cricketers.

I'm intrigued.....

If you're buying it from Laver and Wood you'd pay �249. I wouldn't pay that for a G2 or 3 bat though. I have one from B3 that I paid �165 for and frankly the people who have used it have decided it is one big middle. It's probably G3, and frankly, it goes, so I guess �165 I'd say is reasonable.

I feel this is accurate
�150-165 on current market rates.

If priced too high i'd be tempted to splash out an extra �20/30 quid and get a sponsor higher grade bat

I wouldn't.

Too many 'low grade but top performance' bats from brands, for me it's used as a marketing tactic to flog otherwise tricky to sell low grade clefts. Where's all the low grade but poor performance go?

I was thinking along the lines of �165 for a G2 bat, which has been selected for it's performance.

I'm not looking at brands right now, just the price point for that type of product.

Would you have such a bat as a #2 or if you are a lower order batter have it as a #1?

Good point.
I agree that brands use the 'performance' ticket to sell lower grade bats. A batmaker has recently confirmed this to me.
I'm looking at the principle of the bat, not the brand for this question, but you are correct in your statement.

I have got 3 bats, and havnt paid over 200 for any of them, 2 of them were sub 100, and they perform as better than any bats I have owned. The MIDS from procricket, on initial impressions is one massive middle, and i got it for 70, I have an M&H which is stunning for 99.99 and an aldred supreme which is also stunning for 200. My point is this, I would not specifically look to buy a lower grade bat that performs well, however, the MIDS i have looks frankly g3/4 but was used by a pro, and is immense (upon initial impressions), the M&H again, looks about G3, but performs exceptionally, the Aldred looks amazing and the performance matches. I feel that if you look around you can find good performing ugly bats, for dirt cheap prices, but I wouldnt look to pay over 100 for it

There is no such thing as a grade 2 bat with good performance. They are all flogged as grade 1s

I have a grade 2 Salix select which is as good a performing bat as most other grade one bats I own. Grade 2/3 bats can and often perform as well as grade 1, pro grade what ever you want to call it. Grade one is based on looks of the bat and its cosmetic appearance. My view any way.

Anywhere from 100-130 gbp
KG grade 2 has been great for around 100 gbp
Aldred gold at 125 has been awesome

I'd have to agree with most comments on here in spite of my earlier post. There really isn't such thing as a performance grade 2 bat. My B3 is lower grade willow that is made to a great spec and pressed perfectly so it performs really well. It wasn't sold as performance, it's just a well made bat...

I am talking about bats which are G2 willow and perform really well, as such are sold on performance and not svelt grains.
I think people are misunderstanding the context of performance. It seems people have been sold 'performance' and not given it.

I'm talking about a G2 bat which performs very well indeed and as such is sold on performance NOT some bland sales bs. It actually go's!

Newbery sell their 5 star, which is G2, at around the �150-160 mark.

u can get rubish g1's or amazing g4's

grains and everything is nothing to do with it. its just how the wood is pressed.

me and ryan had had 3-4 clefts from matt h4l that are g3's and they are all cannons

"How much would you pay for a G2 bat which performs as well as a G1 and G3".
"A bloke walks into a cricket shop, picks-up a G2 which pings like a G1" How much does he think he will have to pay?
"A cricket shop owner visits a distribution warehouse, picks out a batch of G2 bats which all ping and have been 'hand selected' How much will his customers pay?

I used the word 'performance' in that context. I think people misunderstood it.

The answer is a �number.
