A little help
« on: June 11, 2013, 11:50:12 AM »

Hi guys

Basically I picked up a few used bats on eBay.

They had damage prior to purchase.

Upon receiving the bats two of the bats(a newbery and a destickered bat impaler?) have considerable damage to the toe.

The newbery in particular has been pummelled by a yorker and has kinda crushed the toe(which isn't too much w problem) but it has caused some of the rear of the bat to lift away near the toe and up the grain.

The impaler has like a crack running through forward to back of the toe.

Any suggestions how I am fix these?

Thanks in advance

Gerry.

some images would be handy but  id say glue, clamp and then sand down. if the cracks are large enough to wedge them open to glue then thats fine. if they are quite tight then i water down some glue. depending on glue i find 5-6 parts glue to 1 part water tends to work pretty well. may be worth putting a toe guard on after the repair to add a little strength and stop damage from water or taping on the wicket.

Have you really got a bat called an 'Impaler'? That seems a bit of a deadly weapon to me!

We shall have to start calling you 'Vlad' :)

@ Red Ink Cricket, thank you. I've not got a camera ATM but will upload a picture after I complete the repair.

@ Fattus Cattus, sorry I got the name of the brand wrong. It's an impala? It's got some weird extra wide top on the handle?
