Hi,

How to judge a good leather ball quality ? As far bats and other stuff goes there are some points to be remebered but what about a Ball ?

We bought a few balls around 10 pounds and 3 of my club bats gone in one session ? Currently I only find answers like dont go for Cheap hard balls , is price the only criteria ?

price is key! anything under �15 is gonna be cheap and nasty are match balls are around �22 a ball

i would definitely recommend SG balls. they are really good and cheap. onlinestockist will probably ship it overseas.

But thats what I need to know the price ? How will you differentiate the quality for a price of 30 pounds and 10 pounds for a ball ?

We used SG league balls, they are ok. Which SG range are you talking about ?

Ball quality is based on 3 things
1) how many layers of leather
There are 2 layers, 3 layers and 5 layers
2) what's inside the ball
3) what is the material used to Create the shine

The SG club balls are ok but for that price you can get better quality balls made from Pakistan.
Cricket Balls is one stuff where the Pakistan market has the hold. You do need to know the right contact though .

Ca super test is also good.

Again I am excluding all those clubs in this discussion who can afford to spend 20 gbp or more per ball.

Great to know about the leather layers, but I have never seen any one mention about layers ? Only heard 2 -piece and 4 piece.

What makes them hard or soft ?
Also already raised this question in another post about wet balls ? Does the leather layers you mentioned affect the ball to retain the softness.

we used sg test in our league. they don't have too much lacquer so you need to work hard to maintain the shine. but the best thing about them was that they retained their shapes (even in the rain).

To continue this discussion, we have started using white balls here and sad to say around 12-15 bats have already been reported broken.
When i say broken these are bats that cannot be fixed at all, not counting the ones that have had cracks and been taped up and put to play.

Anybody out here can recommend good quality white balls that last long and are not bat breakers?

how would you rate AS supreme test and Ihsan 950 cricket balls compared to SG club or tournament?

I am not sure if this was asked before, is it advisable to use a ball which was wet.? Does this anyhow affect the willow?
