Which bat at which price

Had a few beers with some team mates last night before going to dinner with wife. Question came up, what's the actual differance in quality against price, looking on here you can pay seemingly £500 for a bat yet some pay way under £200 for more independent bats ie vantage and red ink etc, so question to all the sellers and to the lads in the know, what are you actually paying for? I'd also like to ask individuals this


What's the best bat out there for under £100 and why

Same for £100-150

£150-200

£200-300

Upwards.

Would love some honest answers on this and would be great for the actual bat makers to have input. As with lots of things in my trade a lot of cost is eaton up just with a name/branding but doesn't always actually offer value against lower priced products. So what would be you bats of choice in each price range and then money no question what's your stick :D

Newbery and Salix are good choices in the above price ranges and plenty of forum sponsors are competitive as well.

Sub £100 Gray Nicolls strike model

£100-£150 MH original or Aldred silver sovereign

£150-£200 HitsHard Power

£200-£300 anything from Salix

Those are my views on bats I own or have owned. It's common knowledge you will be more for a big brand bat as they have large overheads to pay

At the end of the day the quality of the bat comes from the pressing and the knowledge the pod shaver has when assessing each cleft. Very really will you get a plank if spending £150+ on a bat. Indeed some of the bats I have bought on here are as good in terms of performance and finish at £125 ( aldred at) to big brand bats at £200+

�100-150  Any Newbery 5 star. Any model, but my favorite is the Mjolnir.
               Any Hell for Leather Devil. Just because!

�150-200 Warsop Platinum. Go see Tony and Claire, get a custom made Warsop, Grade 1, and you get to see the lovely Essex countryside. What's not to like.

�200-300 Hell for Leather Pro grade. I recently visited Matt @H4L and saw a few Pro grade bats. I got wood! Light clefts, serious amounts of wood where it's needed, and branding of the first order.

>300  I've only seen one, but I would put my arm up for Gary @ Choice. The Pretorian. To get Gary to spend time with you discussing your bat AND to get the best of his willow stash, well, that's worth a few beers to celebrate.
