Playing on the legs
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:26:36 AM »

Right I have this real problem with anything that goes on my legs. Getting out LBW or with a continuation of cross batting and chipping it to someone.

When I am settled the cross batting seems to go out of the way. But this has only had a couple of chances so far this season.

Any tips? Ive been told that taking leg stump guard would be a quick fix for the LBW. But Its more the technique I would like to change.

Thanks

Difficult to say and could really be a number of things.

Having said that - it is more than likely to involve either:

-Your head position

-Your front foot direction

Are you 'falling over' to the off side when you try to play off your legs or are you simply playing around your front pad?

Something simple that can help for both is to have someone underarm some balls firmly at your legs from around 5 or 6 yards away.

Practise keeping your front foot pointing straight or through mid-on (not towards cover!) and hitting the ball through mid-on to mid-wicket rather than square.

You don't need to hit the ball too hard.

Hope that helps.

I think what I am doing is a) trying to hit it too hard, b) playing around the pad.

thanks for the tips I will be getting some of the lads to help me out at nets this week.

Thanks
