Popped in earlier and met jake and the Aussie. Knew id end up buying a bat. Mate did too. Not sure what I got but it felt the most comfortable I picked up. Was nice to be able to pick up a range. I got a slazenger mate got kook. Had a good laugh in nets. Ashamed to say we found out how crap a standard we play at once we looked at speeds on machine. Just hope weathe holds of for Sunday and I get some batting in. Reccomend a visit to vitas. Good lads good advice. Hopefully getting some kit sorted for next year. Currently in local tapping up joint sponsorship!! It's looking good jake.

Kev,

Nice to hear you had a good time with Jake and the man known as the Aussie...

However we don't care about that. Get some pics up of the bats. That is all we care about.

Good stuff mate, yeah pubs love a bit of sponsorship!

Keep working on those front foot shots mate, get the simple things right and wait for the opposition to make mistakes. In Hunts Division 5 I imagine most teams will have one decent bowler, play a solid defence and drive in the V against him and then wait for the lesser bowlers and cash in!

Got yourself a couple of nice ones there mate.

Ill add that's the first ever bat I've brought! Can't wait to play. Might tap you up for top of range b&s in couple of years. Ill swap my slazenger to net bat :D

A century at any level isn't to be knocked, i haven't got one yet - 88 five times :(

Hopefully it will be you raising your bat this weekend, and you can gloat to your mate all week instead.

No doubt that the majority of the cheap Slaz bats in sports direct are ropey, but they do make some belters that cricket specialists like ourselves stock. The retro range (V12, V6 and pro tour softs as well as tan leather bags) is my favourite range from any brand at the moment.

County is what it is, does the job and is well priced. If you get Tony to make you a bat then you'll get a good one, their off the shelf stuff is fairly bog standard though. Like we discussed, most people around this area swear by County, simply because until we came along County was the only place for miles and miles around to buy a cricket bat.

Yes it's good to know there's an unbiased local supplier, after today, me buying first bat ever and Ben buying second I can't see how anyone can buy without seeing first. I'd made my mind up I wanted b&s yet after trying that and slazenger went for that. Its a minefield! As I said keep me informed of new products! I did say to rab my preference was for bat with minimal stickers and the top range slazengers were certainly up my street. I'm a big retro man ;)

Also need to add Ben really liked the pink Vitas option too. Funny how him and keg were discussing 3lb bats were what he should look at yet he ended up with that kook, what's the weight of that? He did ask me to ask earlier but forgot.

His Kook is 2'7 - he'll certainly get some bat speed with it!
