Tom Westley
« on: June 24, 2013, 04:46:57 PM »

The guy is a legend or bell-end depending on how you look at it:-

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2013/engine/current/match/593570.html

67 balls faced and 16 runs - all in 4's. He has scored off 4 balls out of 67, in a run chase as well! Absolute hero for keeping the spirit of Tavare alive, though I'm sure Tavare would've forsaken the boundary board for a nudged 2.

I'm assuming he scored a bit quicker!

Is it not a 4day game?

Unless the run chase is over a session, there really isn't a large hurry. Just play your game, and let the runs come when they do.

well his team mates are busy bailing him out - they must be getting close to the scheduled finish and still need 25 to win as I speak. Foster has been in t20 mode for the last 30 minutes. Reckon they had less than 40 overs to chase 161.

won with 4 balls to spare thanks to Foster and Napier striking at 150 and 185. 78 off the last 10 tells you it wasn't a stroll.

His home club is Weston Colville, his dad and uncles still play there, they play in the league below me. Before we went up 2 seasons ago we used to dread the trip away, on the off chance that Tom might be home and fancied a hit...

Tavare used to stroke the ball all around the park for Kent and hit plenty of boundaries...it was only when he was asked to open for England that he turned himself into a blocker.  He was good to watch in his county career and sacrificed his natural game to do a job for England.
