Just for any one thats interested,

We played the Durham league. Apparently it's a league only a few years old.

Standard was okay. There top 3 had very good eyes and could hit it. But The rest was similar standard to our sat league. Apparently they had 2 pros(we guessed 1 batsman, and the rapid bowler)

For them 120for 1 of 10 became 149 all out of 35.

We to collapsed for 60for0 off 15 to 65 for 5. A slight recover by us meant we only lost by 13runs.butstill a lose.

Wicket died in the second innings and a lot kept low. Ground was lovely and the tea superb though.

You got a link or a picture of the scorecard?  Be interested to see who was playing.

Good friendly banter?  It's a nice ground, some great ones up here, especially to the west of the city where you've some very picturesque surroundings.  That said, there's some even prettier grounds in the Lake District.

Score card has appeared

In other good news, our opposition got removed from the tournament for players professional players, which is apparently not allowed(we did not know this, luckily we have no pros) so we are actually through to the next round.

We play the north Yorkshire and Durham league, at marske ground this Sunday.

And for those that have been watching Cricket AM, the Varun Khullar from the YDCL league is the guy who is getting a 'shot at the pro's'

Looking at his stats on his own clubs play cricket he doesn't look to have done overly well this year. Did he look the part in the trials?

He looked good in the trials on TV but I guess it can be deceptive on what they actually show!

I played against him in a Inter League Rep game when I was drafted in from another league for a last minute drop out and although he had some pace about him he sprayed it all over the place and didn't do much with it.

I bowled a few overs of spin against him and again looked nothing special.

And thats pretty much what i've heard from the people that play in the YDCL against him, 'Decent pace but doesn't do much with it'

Can you expand Chris as presumably you have played him?

Varun decent pace, infact very quick. Just in both games we have played him, he bowled to short.
Seemed to have the "I'm gonna bounce him out" attitude.

Personally chris turner and brad Sampson, are both better bowlers that I have come across.

Couldn't agree more. Always a shame Chris Turner didn't move to join us. Don't think many teams would have passed 100 with them 2 opening the bowling.

NYSD is a proper league in the North, they have 2 pros per team. Only second to the NEPL which isnt that much better. You will ahve to be good to beat NYSD.

Yeah that is my league, first year its been ran after three leagues merged; as I expected that is nowhere near a full team! But that always seems to be the case with league squads!
