Making an oval handle round

Other than sanding down has anyone had an success in making an oval handle round? If so what method did you use?

You can use a drawknife or a rasp.

a rasp is the safer option

How about making a round handle oval? Without having to re-twine it....

Cut grips up and tape them on or just later strips of tape on until its the desired shape
