Best all-round pad?
« on: July 05, 2013, 08:54:58 PM »

Looking into getting new pads because quite frankly my Morrants aren't padded enough, I won't be able to buy any for a while yet but just putting out the feelers as to what are the best all-round pads i.e light, comfortable, protective. Btw I'm 6ft 2 so sizing may also come into it.

I do like GM stuff (shock) so Original pads may be on the cards. Interested to hear what people think.

They're heavier than the Originals though aren't they? Is the protection that much better?

Buy the thruxton pads that soulman has for sale, I've got a pair and they're great. Admittedly I don't face anyone quick so the protection is more than adequate for me but I'd think they would hold up well. I'm also 6'2 and standard mens are a good fit alongside a set of large mens strippers.

I have last year's Vulcan Zeus pads. The pu's scraping off and the stitching has come loose on one top hat, but they're light, comfy beyond comfy and very protective.

You'd do worse than look at SS softs Joe - they make for many other brands and they are well made, lightweight, reasonably priced and comfy.

The Vitas stuff and the Bulldog stuff is also superb for the money.

Well, his Filipino House-boy starches it nightly - so it's looking pretty good.

Thanks guys, as I said I can't afford any new pads for a while. I'm quite light wearing on equipment, never worn pads or gloves out ever after season after season of use

I will have a look later. I would suggest they have only had about 6 games and 4 nets though, so still nearly new!
