Duffle Bag designs

Food for thought on Duffle bags for the Forum sponsors to maybe use on a product.

I use a duffle bag and walk approx 25-30 mins to a home game.
With this is mind there are several flaws with current Duffle bags (I use the Salix Duffle)

1. Shoulder straps only, thinly padded.

The Duffle is a backpack, I feel it would benefit from back padding, and a well padded waist strap such as a hiking/military bergan would have.

2. Open top. Leaves the top of your kit open to the weather conditions, not good for myself if it's a walk in the rain. (A duffle doesn't quite look as snazzy with a bin liner and duct tape around it)

3. Side pocket.

A nessecity but I find that rather that to gain the space for this pocket it eats into the main compartment, rather than having it's own space.

On the Salix same goes for the boot pocket. Annoying if you go to put your boots in last but the compartment inside is crushed with pads etc etc.

I am contemplating finding a way to equip some of these ideas to my currently duffle, but if any of the forum sponsors want to use these ideas and have someone test a prototype feel free and I'd be more than willing  :D

what about size - the salix duffle is 90x40x40. - I would like one to be about 85x40x40

I have an old Karrimor which does the job just fine. It also has a hidden rain cover.

Was going to say this.

The redesign for 2014 sees a little bit more room too, i found min ever so slightly cramped, but other than that, it is a brilliant bag.

Couldn't agree more. Mine now has a hole through the helmet pocket after catching it, but I've done 1.5 seasons on bus, train and tube with it. Definitely the best duffle on the market in my book.

I have the Millichamp and Hall T3 duffle and agree with some of these problems such as the lack of padding whilst walking to games and also the problem with putting boots in last although it does have a rather large outside pocket which is nice. Probably looking to go back to a wheel bag as it just lacks space and i'm not too pleased with the bag
