Saw a Kookaburra Richochet today, it was the first one I have seen.
Have to say I was not very impressed. It had been scalloped to within an inch of its life. It was very light but felt like a tooth pick.
Looking at Haddin's his does't seem to have any concaving at all.
Whats everyones feeling on Scalloping/Concaving?

I don't like it on most bats, But if you can get a huge spine because of it then it could be al right.

Though an ideal bat would have 0 concaving and a huge spine

My Aldred gold sovereign has very little scalloping/concaving. I don't like concaving because it makes the middle much thinner. The classic shape of a bat has a better middle in my eyes. The good advantage to concaving is that it makes for good pickup.

Like I said I'm not a fan at all. The shape looking up from the toe looks very bad to me.

I had a biggest kahuna which was quite concaved but still went like a gun.



Other option is to use heavy bats(mine are 3.1-3.3) I get big edges and no concaving.

I have a Puma Kinetic 5000 which is very concaved. The pickup is great and the performance is wonderful to. I personally don't mind scalloping as long as the performance is there as well.

Not a fan at all and sold a Woodstock TDF and Kahuna Players as they just didn't feel right.

Always been a fan of traditional.  Isn't Haddin using the new Bubble, which is meant to have minimal concaving?

I used to be massively into concaving to get the bat weight down yet getting a bigger spine.

But since I have access to lighter and I'm  going to say dryer clefts I have gone for minimal and found a massive difference.

I akin it to this

If your in form and middling the ball well think of the coverage going up and down the bat but taking away the power to the width of the bat.

For a fuller shape the coverage may be slightly narrower on the spine but wider.

Now I suggest most of us club urchins need maximum coverage for the wickets we play on and the amount of times we don't middle the ball.

im a fan of scalloping as you can get a huge bat with plenty of meat and also with a great pick up like the Tempo that im a big fan of

Personally I love it as I am a weed and use a 2lb 7 bat
I couldn't care less about the edge size though, so am currently using a Chase 175 Beluga (the classic profile) with a bit of concave g to get the weight down, 2lb 7, classic shape (so small edges), picks up like a dream and still goes like a rocket!
What's not to like??

Too much is not good, I find it's detrimental to performance. I prefer none, but I quite like relatively thick edges and use weights around 2.11, so moderate concaving isn't too bad.
