Caving in mid season
« on: July 14, 2013, 11:34:14 PM »

After already buying two bats for this season back in the winter, I today caved in and ordered myself a GM Octane F2

Am I the only one who buys kit mid season, with no reason other than "I felt like it" or is this reasonably common here??

Nobody ever buys things because we 'need' it! Were just big magpies that cant fly, "ooooh, shiny!"

No mate your not, just bought a full GN set from Jake @ vitas including  X181 bat & gloves and oblivion test pads.  Also had Andrew make me a new Hitshard bat slightly lighter but same spec as current match bat and also just bought full GM gear including bat, gloves x2 and pads and duffle. Sold a bit of gear to get this and no doubt by end of the year will have bought some more gear. Go hard or go home as someone once said.

This is quite embarrassing, after finding this forum by chance, I bit the bullet and bought some Bulldog Spirit pads and gloves (2012 models) which were on special offer to replace my 15 year old Newbery pads (which are literally falling apart) and 7 year old Gunn & Moore (Original L.E.) gloves !

Still using my old GM gloves (they are just about usable still) at the moment as the Bulldog gloves need some netting to get them comfortable (I have quite large hands and the bulldog's need a bit of stretching).  Pads are fantastic though.

Last bat purchase was 10 years ago, I have had various bats since which have been obtained through a couple of pro's I know.  However, one of the lads at our club has started making bats and I have put an order in to copy my current bat (Matrixx - which was one of Bangladesh overseas bats).

Since joining the forum mid season I have succumbed to a custom bat and some thruxton batting pads.. Costly membership fees!
