He is a very promising young player who will either benefit for or be hindered by Australia's dearth of quality spinners, depending on how badly he gets targeted and, conversely. on how good a coaching he gets with Australia.  He reminds me a little of Adil Rashid in that he has come on to the scene and been spotted early, and in that his batting is good enough that many sins will be forgiven.

No. In one word.

He had one good match, doesn't do much with the ball. Part time test player at best.

He's only 19 though, plenty of time for improvement. :D Perhaps now that he's sponsored, he can spend more time with his cricket and not worry as much about finding a job etc. etc. I liked what I saw when he batted, and he wasn't too bad with the ball, he should probably focus more on bowling though, as Australia lack a spinner and seem to do fine in the lower batting order department!

Clearly you're Garry Sobers or off that ilk.

Spinners normally mature at 30.

Agar's a kid.

The potential is 10 fold.

He's got an excellent temperament. He's willing to learn and develop.

After a couple of full season in the Sheffield Shield, he'll be a might fine player.

Problem is alot of people get excited when a young player bursts on to the scene but most of the time they do not amount to much in test match cricket. I like the fact that the oz gave a young kid a chance in a test match which i think england could do with trying out, but in all honesty will he become the next big thing? Probably not. If he was going to become a huge star people would have known about him by now. All of the legendary players have been making headlines since they started senior cricket. He will be good, but nothing amazing.

Agar only made his first class debut the winter just gone.

That was only because Western Australian team mate Michael Beer smashed his shoulder.

So Agar's ahead of schedule

looks a decent laid back fella who seems to just be enjoying his cricket which is good to see.  Obviously isn't anywhere near the finished article at present but what was Swann doing at Agar's age, will be very interesting to see him in a few years time and how he has developed as I think he certainly has the potential!
