Best bat you have owned?
« on: July 16, 2013, 12:22:17 PM »

For me it's my GM Icon DXM Original, originally a catalyst until I sent it off to be refurbished and came back stickers as an icon. It's a few years old and it goes like a gun! Loved throughout the dressing room.

Recently received an Aldred Soveriegn and once that has been knocked in and played in it will be much better then the GM which is hard to believe. It's a machine, hopefully will bring lots of runs.

Think a few responses will be from the GM range!

Salix praestantia! About 6/7 unevenly spaced grains but boy does it go! 3 Seasons using it now. Middles totally mashed up and held up by edge tape. Quite a substantial piece of the toe broke off - held together by edge tape again. Sounds a bit weird now like its going to break after every other ball but still going like a train!

A lad at my club says that bats are at their best when they are about to break! He has been saying that about my icon for months!

Which laver?

Laver Reserve. Didn't think much of it to begin with but after a few knocks it really opened up - averaged 68 with it last year so served me well so far. Also goes to show don't give up on a bat too quick like you see on here a bit :)

Cant agree any more! I fell out with my Icon during a spell of inconsistency and once I started scoring runs again I started to love it! A good works man should never blame his tools...

Newbery B52XL - went like a train from ball one and just kept getting better, even though it was an ugly mutha - and my current H4L Hattori, which didn't go particularly great for a month or so but now absoutely flies.

GM Purist Original. Middle was huge, Picked up really nicely. Filled you with confidence looking down and seeing it.

Either a slaz v100 that an old club pro got me about 20 years ago or my Redback paradox.

In terms of value for money the £50 bulldog basher is almost as good as either of those.
